The story begins with Şen Şapka (“Merry Hats”), a small millinery shop started by Vitali Hakko, leading to 84 years of success. 1938
Şen Şapka is renamed Vakko, and sets up Turkey’s first’s silk dyeing workshop in Kurtuluş, İstanbul, where the foundations of Vakko’s unrivalled expertise are laid. 1962
The first Vakko store opens in Beyoğlu, the heart of Istanbul. Complete with a cafe and gallery, the 8-floor store is the largest of its kind in Turkey at the time, and is followed by two similar flagship stores in Ankara and Izmir. 1969
The Vakko Factory is built in Merter, with an indoor area of 40,000 m2. Featuring an art gallery with paintings and sculptures by renowned Turkish artists, the factory features silk printing workshops as well as facilities for the production of men’s and women’s ready to wear garments and shoes. 1973
The second Vakko store opened in Ankara, and Vakko started expanding its retail network with consequent Vakko Butik sales points. 1979
The Vakko İzmir store opened. Country-wide advertising campaigns and regular fashion shows began to strengthen the recognition of the Vakko brand. 1981
In honor of the Centennary of Atatürk’s birth, Vakko stages “Anatolian Sun”, a stunning fashion and art show, in Rome, Vienna, Brussels, Paris and London. 1982
Turkey’s first youth garment store Vakkorama opens in İstanbul. A concept store Incorporating music, art and sport events, Vakkorama soon becomes a center of attraction for young people. 1988
Vakko celebrates its 50th anniversary by refreshing its brand identity. The elegant yet dynamic Vakko logo, still in use today, was designed by renowned English designer Sir Terence Conran. 1989
With Vakko Superfine, Vakko becomes the first fashion brand in Turkey to produce chocolate, pioneering the birth of chocolate culture in the country. 1990
With the launch of Katia, Vakko becomes the first fashion house in Turkey with its signature perfume. Katia is followed by two other perfumes: V de Vakko and Piu Piu. 1992
The Power FM radio station begins broadcasting nationwide, as a subsidiary of Vakko, with a mission to bring quality music to the country. 1993
The story continues with the introduction of Vakko Boutique Concept, focusing on its own line of shirts, ties and scarves, produced with the ultimate Vakko equality. 1994
